5 of 5 Motorcraft DY-718 Temp. Sensor December 5, 2023

A friend's 2000 Ford Expedition , Eddie Bauer. External Temp was reading 137 degrees- no kidding. Heat is lukewarm (after a complete coolant flush; heater cores included) and ACs not so cool. All the other stuff ruled out or repaired. Just replace that 23 year old ambient temp sensor, right? Good luck finding the DY-718 anywhere in stock (no aftermarkets; bad experiences). Amazon; even the Ford parts sites. The big box auto stores- nope. And then I run across Pillar Surplus. Surprise! They have one! Ordered.  

With the sensor, made the repair. It was 60 degrees outside; External Temp now read 60 degrees. My friend told me max heat will now run you out of the truck. Expedition's are large SUVs. Now it heats, and well.

With fast shipping and, as luck would have it, having this specific sensor in stock, Pillar Surplus should be a first stop for those elusive parts that are hard to get. Many thanks for helping me out!

I called Pillar about a hard to find saw blade.  Staff were very pleasant, pulled parts from warehouse and made available for pickup within hours.  Saw blades as advertised. Good price.  Will buy again!

Received NOS belt but it was unusable.  The belt was stored in such a manner that it took a set and had a large hump which caused significant vibration in the drive train.  I called Pillar to make them aware of this problem and spoke with Chris who was very understanding and was going to check to see if the product could be refunded and to send photos which documented my problem.  Well unfortunately he  called back and told me the  owner said that there was not going to be refund as belts were sent from the manufacturer packaged the way mine was sent to me.   The belt may have been sent from the manufacturer folded up but should have been stored in such a manner that it would not have taken a set. It is a shame that this Owner is going to squabble over a $20 dollar belt and loose a future return customer but that is his prerogative.  My advice to any customers is to make sure that you are willing to accept that you most likely get a refund on a product even if it is defective.
